Wajukuu Kids Club

Nurturing Creativity Since 2004

Wajukuu Kids Club provides a safe haven for children to express themselves, learn new skills, and develop into responsible critical thinkers through the power of art.

Discover Our Story

Our Story

Wajukuu Kids Club began in 2004 when local artists noticed children gathering daily at the entrance of their studio. Recognizing the children's curiosity and interest, the artists started offering classes, creating a structured program that has been running ever since.

In the challenging environment of Mukuru slum in Nairobi, Wajukuu Kids Club serves as a source of hope. Through our activities, we promote creativity and education while offering children a safe space to express themselves freely.

We believe every child needs cultural guidance and a space for self-expression, regardless of their surroundings. Our program helps keep children away from negative influences such as dropping out of school, substance abuse, crime, and early pregnancies.

Through the Kids Club sessions, we witness the growth of children into responsible and critical thinkers who are connected to their cultural heritage and equipped with valuable social skills.

Our Activities

Painting

Children explore their creativity through various painting techniques, learning color theory, composition, and self-expression. Our painting sessions encourage imagination while developing fine motor skills.

Gardening

Our organic gardening program teaches children about sustainable farming, nutrition, and environmental responsibility. Children learn to grow their own food while connecting with nature.

Dancing

Traditional and contemporary dance forms help children express themselves physically while celebrating cultural heritage. Dance sessions promote physical fitness, coordination, and teamwork.

Drumming

Children learn rhythm, timing, and cultural traditions through our drumming program. This musical education fosters discipline, listening skills, and appreciation for African musical heritage.

Library

Our reading program nurtures literacy skills and a love for books. Children explore stories that expand their worldview and strengthen their imagination and critical thinking abilities.

Scholarships

We provide educational scholarships to help children continue their studies despite financial constraints. In 2024, we secured sponsorships for five children to attend high school.

Success Stories

"Wajukuu Kids Club changed my life. Before joining, I was struggling in school and had little hope for my future. The art classes gave me confidence and a way to express myself. Now I'm studying graphic design in college, thanks to the scholarship they helped me secure."
